Louise-Roblin Weed Control District – submitted by Kent Shewfelt

The Louise-Roblin Weed Control District was formed in the spring of 1960 as a joint venture between the R.M. of Louise and the R.M. of Roblin. In later years, they were joined by the Town of Pilot Mound and the Villages of Crystal City and Cartwright.

Our aim is to deliver cost effective and environmentally sustainable weed control within our jurisdiction, and to enhance the weed control activities of our rate-payers. The Weed District organizes weed control efforts for all of the above jurisdictions and works to enforce the Noxious Weeds Act. We also offer weed identification, custom weed control for ratepayers, noxious weed control for Highways and other government agencies, and general advice on weed control for home-owners. Through extension activities we also serve to increase resident awareness of new and existing weed concerns and threats to our ecosystems. It is our aim to enhance the economic and environmental potential of our District and the Province through reducing the spread and impact of new and existing weed species and other threats.
